Built around one rule: same risk on every trade.
Futures trader with 10+ years in ES, CL, and GC. Built Shadow Edge Tools to enforce consistent sizing and execution discipline on every trade.
Hi, I'm Jordan Henning.
I'm Jordan, and I founded Shadow Edge Tools. I've been trading futures for over a decade — primarily ES (the E-mini S&P 500), CL (crude oil), and GC (gold), on my own capital. I use a mix of strategies depending on the instrument and the day, but the strategy isn't what I obsess about.
What I obsess about is size. Fixed-dollar risk on every trade. Same dollar amount, every time, regardless of how strong the setup looks, how the last trade went, how confident I'm feeling, or how hot a winning streak is running. It sounds simple, and it is — until you actually try to hold it for a year.
Consistent risk does three things at once. It strips the emotional sizing decision out of the trade — the part where you upsize "just on this one" or downsize because you're scared. It makes your win-rate math meaningful instead of theoretical: if you risk the same dollar amount every trade, you can finally evaluate whether your edge actually works without inconsistent position size masking the signal. And it cuts off the death spiral — the one where a bad day becomes a sized-up revenge trade that becomes a breached account.
Strategy edge is real, but it's almost always smaller than traders think. Whatever your edge actually is, it needs time to compound, and time is exactly what inconsistent sizing takes away from you. Risk discipline is the variable that decides whether your edge has room to play out — or whether a single outsized loss zeros it out.
After enough years watching the same pattern repeat, I stopped treating this as an opinion. Traders with real edges destroying themselves with inconsistent sizing. Traders with mediocre edges surviving for years because they got the sizing right. Over and over. It's the only path I've found that actually works long-term — in any account, prop or personal.
Which is why Shadow Edge Tools exists. Believing in fixed-dollar risk is one thing. Sizing every trade correctly in real time, on every chart, when the market's moving against you and your brain is screaming at you to make exceptions — that's something else. These tools exist to close the gap between what you know you should do and what you actually do.
Bracket Boss is the execution side. Drag your entry, stop, and target on the chart. Set your max risk in dollars. The strategy sizes the position automatically, attaches the bracket the moment your entry fills, and tracks every modification you make. Move a stop closer mid-trade? Logged. Cut a target short? Logged. Order Lock is there for the day you take a red trade you knew was wrong — one click and you're done trading until the next session.
Drawdown Guardian is the account side. It tracks trailing drawdown and daily-loss limits in real time, with a safety buffer that's actually visible on chart instead of buried in a firm dashboard. When the buffer hits, you get a visual and audible alert. Optional auto-flatten if you want it. And it uses Bracket Boss discipline history to compute a Discipline Score™ — the first behavioral scoring system in NinjaTrader, because behavior is the variable nobody else measures.
Every release passes a multi-day Replay qualification — the same kind of sustained test I run on my own live trading accounts before I trust new code with real money. That's the standard for everything we ship. The documentation runs the same way: every claim about what the tool does is followed by what it can't do. If you read something we don't actually deliver on, that's a bug in the docs and I want to know about it.

The standard for trading software is too low.
Most NinjaTrader add-ons are built by developers who don't trade with them, or by traders who don't build them. The result is a market full of plausible-looking panels that fail in production: brackets that don't attach on fast fills, drawdown numbers that disagree with the broker, “auto” features that silently break.
Shadow Edge Tools is built to a different standard. Every release passes a multi-day Replay qualification before it ships. Every claim in our documentation is followed by what the tool can'tdo. The discipline history connects the tools because behavior is the variable that actually decides whether a funded account survives. We treat trading software the way you'd want it treated if your money was on it — because ours is.
